PET - An ideal material for the modern world

Apogee manufactures a multitude of PET containers for a range of industries.  Our state-of-the-art PET equipment are dual stage (injection & blow) where we manufacture the preform and then blow the shape of the PET container in the same machine.   This process provides the highest quality in PET container manufacturing eliminating the need to source and procure injection preforms -  that risk inconsistent bottle quality as you see in a PET single stage process. PET bottles do not have the PVC and Polycarbonate risk associated Bisphenol A

PET / PETE containers can be semi-rigid to rigid, depending on its thickness, and it is very lightweight. It makes a good gas and fair moisture barrier, as well as a good barrier to alcohol (requires additional "barrier" treatment) and solvents.  It is strong and impact resistant.   It is naturally colorless with a high transparency.

ATTRIBUTES

  • Transparency – It’s clear gloss finish enhances the appearance of the contents.  PET can also be colored if desired.
  • Hygienic – PET is free of taste or smell, and will not contaminate or impair the contents of the bottle in any way.  PET complies with the USA’s FDA food packaging standards.
  • Strong – Durable, totally safe and shatter proof.
  • Barrier – Good Gas barrier prevents product oxidation, or tainting by odor absorption.
  • Light weight – About one tenth the weight of similar glass bottles.  This makes it convenient for consumers, dramatically reduces distribution costs, and minimizes use of resources.
  • Design – Easily formed into attractive designs.
  • Recyclable – Used PET bottles can be washed, broken into flakes and remolded  into new PET bottles or for other industries.

PET bottle recycling is more practical than many other plastic applications. The primary reason is that plastic carbonated soft drink bottles and water bottles are almost exclusively PET, which makes them more easy to identify in a recycle stream. PET has a resin identification code of 1. Because of the recyclability of PET and the relative abundance of post-consumer waste in the form of bottles, PET has been universally accepted for post consumer recycled products.
